I entered a very short story last quarter to the Writer's of the Future contest. And as expected I didn't make the cut.

After a few false starts, I finally found the right starting point for the next character arc I pulled from my main novel outline.

After workshopping one of my short stories and receiving positive feedback, I decided I want to begin submitting to Writers of the Future.

While it took a little longer than I expected I did reach the final scene of the novel. I am now going through and looking for plot holes.
