I feel like I did quite a bit this year considering I just started up writing after a long break. I finished one book that sadly turned out to be the middle book in a series. After outlining the series further, I began writing book one in the series. At present, I am more than half way through the estimated scene list. I am rocking a 40 day writing streak and if all goes well should finish book 1 early January. Word count total for the year comes is just under 200k.

Successes for this year also includes outlining through a good chunk of one series and roughing out the rest of the series. The success of this is that I seem to have found a method for brainstorming and outlining that is working for me. The brainstorming turned out to be the piece of the puzzle I have been missing for years. Moving forward, I feel more confident I can take a gem of an idea, flesh it out and outline it into something I can get written. My next step will be to gain more confidence in editing. I plan on going through a single edit pass for plot holes before setting it aside to write the next book.
My local library rocks. They finally started up a writing group, getting feedback on short stories and talking with other authors has been great and up lifting. If all goes well, I do hope I might be able to either shop around some short stories while I move forward with my novels, or simply post the shorts on the blog here in a separate section. Some of this will depend on what the new year brings and whether I self publish or shop the novel. But that is for next year.
For now, I hope you all had a great holiday, and enjoy a fresh new year.
