I've been writing for a long time; mostly dabbling, sometimes pantsing, and always searching for the best way to do something. Many times that something is ephemeral, I'm not even sure what is wrong, only that something isn't working. Over the years, this has lead to unfinished works, lists of ideas, huge blocks of free writing with lots of gems but too boring to read through to find, and finished works I've been afraid or unsure how to edit.

My solution has been to finally take an organized approach and join a writing class and a writing group. The writing class, The Ultimate Fantasy Writer's Guide, fits into my schedule and can be worked in any order, or reworked when I hit a trouble spot or milestone. If I start a new project, I know I can go back and refresh my memory and the class will always be there. This appeals to my tight schedule and desire to finally finish and publish a novel. This blog is one of the many steps in the process that I have taken to help keep me on track and hopefully more accountable.

The Ultimate Fantasy Writer's Guide, which began in 2017, will be opening its doors again at the end of February for six days and I will be hosting one of the course instructors over the next three weeks for some guest posts that will go into more detail about the course. In the meantime, the first lesson of module 1 is available here*, check it out and see if the teaching style resonates with you.

A little preview of the modules, there are twelve modules to the Guide, most with several lessons. The first six modules deal with writing. The second six are about building a platform and author career. The modules are:

Module 1: Developing Your Story Idea

Module 2: Intro to WritingModule 3: Writing the Beginning

Module 4: Writing the Middle

Module 5: Writing the End

Module 6: Advanced Writing Techniques.

Module 7: Building a Fan Base

Module 8: Finding Time & Staying Motivated

Module 9: Editing Like a Pro

Module 10: Covers, Formatting, & Platforms

Module 11: Launching to Fans and Getting Reviews

Module 12: Life After Launch

About Me

I have been writing fantasy novels for several years now but for as long as I can remember I have been writing something. Nanowrimo reminded me of my love of spinning a good story.
